Basic Television Production Series

LMCTV offers ongoing classes in basic television production at convenient day and evening hours in Studio 2.

Studio Orientation

Scheduled upon request

New Volunteers and Producers are required to attend a Studio Orientation.  This class is a pre-requisite to volunteer at LMCTV.

The curriculum covers how to produce with LMCTV as well as all positions of studio production are reviewed such as camera, audio, Technical Directing, and more. New members have a chance ask questions and learn about volunteer opportunities. This class is hands-on and no prerequisites are required.

Field Production

Scheduled upon request

This class is free with LMCTV membership and is mandatory for use of field equipment and can be scheduled upon request.  The Field Production class will cover basic camera skills used when shooting on location.

Techniques covered in this class are:

  • Tripod usage
  • Manual camera settings: such as white balance, focus, iris coontrol
  • Trouble Shooting
  • Standard Definition and High Definition cameras

Video Editing

Our video editing class is specific to Final Cut Pro. In this class you will learn basic Final Cut Pro skills such as:

  • How to digitize your footage
  • Import pictures and music
  • Create titles
  • Add transitions and Special effects

Continuing Education Series

Introduction to TV Studio Production

Studio 2, 145 Library Lane, Mamaroneck, NY

This introductory course, designed to promote a basic understanding of how the television studio process works through theory and practice, allows students the opportunity to assume the various production roles found in a television studio. Students will learn the different studio and control room duties including; director, floor manager, camera operator, audio engineer, graphics, lighting technician and technical director. Students will also get a working knowledge of video and audio technology.

Basic Adobe Photoshop

Studio 2, 145 Library Lane, Mamaroneck, NY

Learn image alteration and enhancement in Adobe Photoshop. Explore the key concepts used for transforming your images with color corrections and repair methods. Students remove dust and scratches from images digitally as well as combining images to create an amazing out of this world work of art. This Adobe Photoshop course teaches students that the only limits to the images they can create are the limits of their imaginations. Computers and content will be provided. Class runs for six consecutive weeks and there are 2 sessions to choose from. Some basic Mac operation knowledge is required.

Final Cut Pro Editing

Ready to step it up from iMovie? Final Cut Pro is the next step toward professional video editing. This 6 week course takes you step by step in understanding the Final Cut Pro interface, tools and basic uses; how to capture your footage, import pictures and music, create titles, add transitions and more. If you want to expand your experience and learn how to edit more professional looking videos, this is the class that will help you start. Computers and content will be provided. Students are also free to bring in their own work to edit. Class runs for six consecutive weeks. Some basic Mac operation knowledge is required.

Amateur Videography

Do you have your own Digital Video Camera but you’re not really sure how to use it? Then you are not alone! Many people want to make the most out of their home movies but do not understand how to get the quality they want when taping a local sports game, concert, recital, day at the beach or even just a trip to the park on a sunny afternoon. Bring your camera, along with its manual and cables, to class at LMCTV and we will show you how to get the best quality out of your home videos. You will also learn how to hook your camera up to our computers and capture the footage for editing with iMovie. This Class does not teach iMovie.

Customized Group Classes

If you have a group with a project or an idea for a series, LMCTV can arrange special classes for your group. To arrange classes and for a schedule of upcoming classes call (914) 381-0131.

  • No experience necessary for class.
  • There is a class size limit of 6 people.
  • Class dates may be altered to avoid conflict with Holidays
  • You may put your name on a waiting list, but class registration will be 1 month in advance, first come first serve.
  • Certification will be issued upon Completion of class (min 75% attendance and completion of final project).
